Terms of Service

Last updated: 17 August 2026

These terms govern your use of Umoja in Uganda. By using this site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What this service is

Umoja is a classifieds platform. We publish adverts for goods and services so that buyers can find sellers. We are not the seller, not the seller's agent, and not a party to any contract between you and a seller.

Most adverts on this site are sourced from a partner platform. We do not verify them, inspect the goods, or check a seller's identity, the condition of an item, or whether a price is genuine.

2. There are no accounts

This site has no user registration and no login. You can browse and contact sellers without an account. Your favourites and preferences live in your own browser only.

3. Age

You must have the legal capacity to enter a contract in your country in order to buy anything you find through an advert here. This site is not directed at children.

4. Acceptable use

When using this site, you agree not to:

  • use the platform for fraud, deceptive advertising, or any kind of scam;
  • harvest phone numbers, names or other data in bulk, whether by hand or with software;
  • circumvent rate limits, technical restrictions or any security measure;
  • send spam, harass anyone, or threaten buyers or sellers;
  • impersonate another person or organisation;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to our systems.

5. Prohibited items

Adverts for illegal goods, counterfeits, controlled drugs, weapons, human organs, endangered wildlife, identity documents, and anything that infringes intellectual property are not allowed. We may remove any advert that breaks the law or these terms.

6. Transactions and payment

Every transaction happens off this platform, directly between you and the seller. Umoja does not process payments, does not hold funds, and provides no buyer protection, escrow, guarantee or refund.

For your own safety: inspect goods before paying, meet in a public place, avoid sending money up front to someone you do not know, and treat a price that looks too good as a warning sign.

7. Reporting and removal

Every advert has a report button, which opens your own email application so you can write to us. You can also write directly to support@umoja.ug — whether the advert is a scam, a prohibited item, or your own personal data that you do not want published.

We may remove any content at our discretion, and will do so where it breaches these terms or the law.

8. Intellectual property

The design, branding, code and site content belong to Umoja or its licensors. Advert content belongs to its owners. You may not copy or commercially reuse this site's content without our written permission.

9. No warranty

This site is provided "as is". We do not warrant that adverts are accurate, complete or still available, or that the site will be uninterrupted. We give no warranty about any seller or their goods.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Umoja is not liable for loss arising from your use of this site or from a transaction between users — including money lost to a fraudulent seller. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not permit us to limit.

11. Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Uganda. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Uganda.
